When was the last time you treated yourself? Or at least made a guilt-free purchase that you didn’t feel funny about the second you put your credit card away. For a long time, I just couldn’t understand the price tag that entered the four digits for a coat – that is, until I met my dream coat. I have wanted the perfect trench coat for as long as I can remember. I have always seen celebrities wearing them and since being in London almost everyone has one. I have wanted one for so long, but it is so hard to justify a multi-thousand dollar coat purchase. Let’s talk about my Burberry Trench coat…
The fashion industry loves to talk about “investment pieces” — the perfect Burberry trench coat, a Chanel bag, Manolo Blank pumps — in other words, pricey items that can cost more than a month’s rent and need to be called “investments” to justify them. When I thought of buying the perfect Burberry trench it wasn’t a purchase that happened on the fly. It was carefully thought out, curated, and I made sure I could wear it with at least 987 different outfits before I made the investment. I am lucky enough to be living in London the home of Burberry everything! I was also lucky enough to purchase this coat from the Burberry flagship store on Regent Street. If you do end up stopping by the Burberry store on Regent street make sure you ask for Shana to help you out, she is the best.
It took me a while to figure out which would be the perfect trench coat for me, but I decided to go with the classic black trench coat. I tried on a few different styles and fits, but I knew I wanted the Heritage Trench Coat as that is their timeless design and it is made in England. The heritage trench coat comes in three different fits and styles. I went with “The Kensington – Long Heritage Trench Coat”. After trying on a few different coats this one suited my body the best and of course, I loved the all black look to the coat. This coat starts at over $2000 and it is hard to justify that kind of cost for one coat, but I have summed up my thoughts into why you should get this coat into 3 points:
1.) It’s waterproof. I live in London, and as any Londoner knows, the weather is temperamental and there is nearly some sort of rain on a weekly if not daily basis. With this coat, I no longer have to worry about ruining my other coats and it is lightweight enough where I can layer under it or just wear it over a summer dress. It really fits with my wardrobe all year round.
2.) It’s versatile. If your social calendar is more up and down than a ride at Disneyland than a classic trench is all you need. Hear me out. You can always wear it to work, not matter your profession a trench coat always elevates your look. You can wear it to the supermarket when you need a quick fix of Ben & Jerry’s, throw it over your PJs and no one will know. Or wear it over a sleek dress on date night and look high class and effortless. The options are endless.
3.) You will always feel special in it. Once you spend over a thousand dollars on any item, you will always feel special. As much as fashion is about how you feel in what you’re wearing, it’s always nice to receive compliments about your look. A sleek trench coat will never go unnoticed, and you’re guaranteed to always look chic and put-together.
So how do you feel? Convinced you need to add a trench coat to your wardrobe? I know at this point you can go out and buy a trench coat for $100 or less, but trust me, I have been there and I always opted for the cheaper option until I realized that this investment was actually worth it. If you are convinced on purchasing a coat you can always visit the flagship Burberry store on Regent Street, or if you want to grab a coat for a fraction of the price there is the Burberry factory store in East London, but don’t tell everyone, it will be our little secret! Shhhh!
