Afternoon tea is still such a funny novelty to me being an American in England. I have gone to my fair share of Afternoon teas, but the Italian inspired tea at The Senate Room at the Royal Academy was a bit different to the norm! Crafted by the master Italian baker MELISSA FORTI , it combines a delightful selection of cakes and flavours. This afternoon tea showcases a tempting selection of small plates, sandwiches, and desserts for £29.50 per person.
The full afternoon tea includes:
Tea or coffee
–––
Radicchio, red cabbage, gorgonzola, walnuts, pear and pomegranate salad
–––
Salumi – Speck, wild boar salumi, Finocchiona
–––
Porchetta foccacini
Tuna, egg, olive tramezzini
Stracciatella & salsa rossa crostini
–––
Ricotta cheesecake, honey, chestnut
Rum baba
Orange & Grand Marnier chiffon cake
Panettone, warm vanilla custard
Coffee bignè
–––
Espresso zabione
The menu was a bit strange for me it did not have scones or crumpets but rather had quite a few sweet cakes and treats. This afternoon tea is for those that have a huge sweet tooth! It had more sweets and cakes than the typical tea sandwiches. I am more of a savory person but some of the cakes were delicious while others were a bit too sweet for my liking. I think if the menu was a bit more balanced and 50/50 of sweets and sandwiches it would have been perfect.
I discovered this cute location and lovely experience through Eaten App (eaten.io/d/ig), which is a new type of food rating app (perfect for discovering the most decadent afternoon teas). Big thanks to the team at Eaten for always expanding my food horizons!
*This post is in collaboration with Eaten App and The Senate Room, as an influencer I agreed to share my experience of the afternoon tea with my followers in order to receive the class/event for free.
