What is a Freakshake?

I really love that nowadays food is much more innovative than ever before. Back in the day, when you ordered a milkshake, you got milk, ice cream, and possibly 1 flavour blended together. Now there are theses crazy things called Freakshakes. I am not sure how long Freakshakes have been around for but they are the recent craze here in London. There is more than one place to pick up a Freakshake in London, but I was drawn to Molly Bakes Café in North East London. There is probably no more epic of a drink than a Freakshake. These shakes supposedly originated in Australia and have now started to take over the world. The monster sized milkshakes can fix all of your sugar cravings and give you one large bill at the dentist for all the cavities you will have afterwards. These shakes are a combo of milky goodness, rich, gooey cake, cookie chunks, excessive cream and a rainbow of colourful toppings. The Freakshakes at Molly Bakes were delightful and actually one of the cheaper options in London. There are a number of cafes and bakeries in London that make these special shakes, but I was drawn to Molly Bakes because of a Buzzfeed article and of course Instagram.

My thoughts on a Freakshake

So I ordered a caramel freak shake with an ice cream sandwich as my “topping”. There are a number of different flavours and toppings you can choose from, but let me just warn you that every combo is extremely sweet. I was actually more impressed by the toppings of the Freakshake than the actual milkshake. I was lucky that when I went into the café there was no wait and the customer service was amazing. The Freakshake itself was a bit disappointing. Firstly, they served us in plastic cups instead of the glass mugs photographed on their Instagram. Secondly, the milkshake itself was a bit too watered down and not as creamy as I was expecting. Like I said before the best part was the topping which was my ice cream sandwich. Overall I thought it was a decent shake and for £7 it did not break my bank account. I do think people should give these Freakshakes a go, but I am not sure if I would go back for seconds.

I hope my pictures and review inspired you to go out and get freaky and try out one of these shakes in London.
