I know winter has come and gone and spring is nearly upon us, but I just had to write about my favorite statement coat from Burberry that I wore all winter long. Being born and raised in California, one of my favorite things about Winter is getting to layer up and wear cozy coats. I have always been a classic all-black kind of girl. However, I decided to branch out a little bit this past year and add a bit of color into my winter coat collection. As soon as I saw this coat in the Burberry outlet I knew I had to have it. I thought it would be the perfect statement piece to add to my capsule wardrobe.
Another reason I love this coat is because of the tailored and structured style. It is only of those pieced I instantly feel apart and sophisticated in. The classic Burberry buttons down the front in a glossy black elongate my body and even when worn with just black jeans I instantly feel like this coat transforms a basic casual outfit into a classy and well thought out outfit. What’s even better is that it actually kept me warm throughout the winter.
The functionality of this coat is the most important. There were days in winter when all I wanted is to be warm and dry, but winter is a long and cold time and you should strive to stick out amongst the boring black and gray coats on the tube. The impression you make on the outside world is always important. I always try to stick out in the crowd and you should too. With a statement coat, you will always stick out in a good way.
Throughout the winter, whenever I was outside, my coat is what most people always saw me in. Your coat often becomes the only piece of clothing people see. Having a statement coat automatically makes you look more put together and even if you are only wearing jeans and t-shirt the coat makes you look sophisticated. With a bright statement coat, I would suggest wearing muted or monochrome colors so that the coat pops even more.
To finish the look, I popped on my favorite over the knee black boots from Public Desire which are more comfortable that they look. They really as a must have and super cheap compared to other over the knee boots on the market today. I also paired this outfit with my Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses.
Bold colors are always eye-catching, a statement coat is a great way to add some cheer to the gray and dreary streets of London. Wearing color should not be exclusive to the warmer months. Just remember, as, with any statement piece, you want to keep the rest of your outfit tame.
