I recently went to Iceland for the first time and got to stay at the stunning Silica Hotel. I had such an awesome and relaxing experience at this hotel that I wanted to share my experience with you. The Silica Hotel is a part of the Blue Lagoon resort and is the only hotel in the area that has exclusive private access to the Blue Lagoon. This modern hotel is set in the middle of a lava field and is only a 10-minute walk from the Blue Lagoon. The hotel also offers its own private bathing lagoon which is open to hotel guests from 9am-10pm every day.
This hotel has won quite a few well-deserved awards. It is built around a gorgeous landscape and it offers an escape from the busy city. People can visit this hotel to experience a sense of calm, relaxation, and healing. The hotel rooms are well situated, each with its own private terrace that looks over the lava fields. When staying at this hotel you feel total relaxation and luxury. My room was spacious, modern, and clean. As anticipated, the rooms are exceptionally well laid out, fully suited with coffee making facilities. The underfloor heating in the spacious bathroom was bliss as were the hot showers.
The staff is incredibly friendly and very helpful. Every time we came to breakfast or re-entered the hotel we were always greeted with a smile and a hello. Other than the perks of having your own private access to the hotel’s Blue Lagoon you also get a free premium access to visit the main Blue Lagoon. If you want a special hotel, for a special trip – this is it. I know you have to visit the Blue Lagoon when in Iceland, but you are really better off relaxing in the Silica Hotel pool. These pools have the silica on the ground and can be used for face masks just like you would at the main Lagoon. Everything about this hotel was a delight and I hope to go back to Iceland and stay at this hotel once again. Aside from the Blue Lagoon and having private access to the pools, the hotel rooms nightly cost also includes a warm breakfast buffet and unlimited coffee and hot chocolate all day.
I hope this blog post has encouraged you to take a trip to Iceland and stay at this gorgeous hotel! Stay tuned for more Iceland pictures and blog posts coming soon.
