Beer & Buns has to be one of the most fun places to have a bite to eat and a drink after work if you work on Liverpool Street in London. The atmosphere is always welcoming and the drinks keep on flowing. When you visit, be prepared to stuff your face with a variety of bao buns, chicken wings, and plenty of other Japanese inspired sides. Oh and let’s not forget the huge range of beers and cocktails! Beer and Buns have something for everyone! It is such a fun space located in the heart of Shoreditch and just minutes away from Liverpool Street Station. I have totally been to Beer & Buns many times before but they have a NEW MENU and I was dying to try out some of the new cocktails and nibbles. Their swanky new menu includes new cocktails, bao buns, and vegetarian treats.
Here are some photos and a list of all my new favorite items –
B&B Signature Bun with Chicken Karaage – this is a complete classic. You cannot go wrong with fried chicken with Japanese yuzu and kasha slaw
Fish Finer Bao Bun with pink reader haddock with homemade tartare sauce. Think fish in chips but between a soft and fluffy bun.
Aga Dashai Tofu tossed in a Korean bulgogi sauce and is completely vegan-friendly!
Edamame Spring Rolls with a sweet chili sauce. Super crispy rolls and vegetarian-friendly.
Japanese Poutine– This is exactly what it says. It’s fries with a Katsu flavored sauce and melted cheese on top.
Ki No Bi G&T with Kyoto Japan Dry Gin – this is by far my favorite drink ever. I love a good G&T after a hot day but this Gin was infused with Japanese botanicals (yuzu, hinoki wood chips, bamboo, hykutu tea and green sansho). I loved how fresh it tasted and highly recommend to any and all gin lovers.
The new menu definitely has some new favorites for me and there seems to be something for everyone from drinks, to meat lovers, to the vegetarians. Also, the atmosphere is decked out in a speakeasy meets Japanese dive bar style with retro pinball machines and fuss balls to boot! It is as simple as it can get, Beer and Buns, what more can a girl ask for?
