Tarshish is a new Turkish and Mediterranean grill restaurant that offers a truly unforgettable fine dining experience. From kebabs to hummus to signature cocktails there is really nothing you cannot get at this amazing new rooftop terrace restaurant in North London. This two-floor restaurant gives you an impressive view of North London and the interior decorations are top notch as well! With plenty of space and friendly waiter, you can end up sitting on their rooftop terrace for hours on a sunny day in London enjoying the food, drinks, and desserts. There really isn’t much they don’t serve. They offer a wide selection of dishes inspired by the Mediterranean cuisine and the presentation was top notch!
Now for those of you that know me, I am kind of a West London brat. Being born and raised in Orange County, California and now living in Chelsea, London, I have pretty high standards of where I go out. My colleagues at the office say I live the “Zone 1 Chic London Lifestyle”, which isn’t entirely wrong. I mainly find myself out and about in either West or Central London. I very rarely venture further out, mainly because I don’t really know anything past zone 2, but also just because most people only tend to recommend places to hang out in Central London. I was pleasantly surprised when I ventured out of my comfort zone all the way to zone 3! (Gasp, I know!) Tarshish is well worth the hour long tube ride it took me to check this place out!
Tarshish is a place where you can feel the fusion of culture and culinary delights. There is definitely and east meets the west vibe. Upon entrance, you get the feeling of entering a higher scaled restaurant that might serve a fusion menu. While Tarshish’s menu is quite broad, I quite appreciated that they kept true to their Mediterranean and Turkish roots. Tarshish, the biblical location, actually means the East meeting the West and this restaurant represents that exactly. I was also pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere in this restaurant. Even though this location is well out of central London, the décor, food presentation and service was like I was dining in Soho!
They really are excellent in every way possible, especially the service. The waiter was informative, helped with the menu and recommended some of the top cocktails. Fear warning, the food portions are HUGE! One entrée can easily feed two people. Since I was there for a food blogger event we basically ordered one of everything on the menu. I got to try every single starter and I personally ordered the halloumi and vegetable skewers. I also tried the lamb shish kebabs and they are a must have! Honestly, everything on their menu is delicious and let’s not forget desserts and cocktails. Their cocktails and mocktails were excellently made by their bartenders. If there is something that you fancy and it’s not on the menu they will be happy to create something to your liking. Like I said before, and I will say it again, the service was amazing.
Finally, let’s talk about the dessert. Usually, most places don’t really care about their dessert menu, but at Tarshish, they really made an effort to make sure their entire menu is cohesive from start to finish. I had the baklava for dessert and it was amazing. I am already a fan of baklava, but this dessert had a bit of a twist. It was a deconstructed baklava with ice cream in the middle. It was delicious and I ate every last bite. I am usually one for more savory than dessert, but their desserts were too good to pass up.
Overall it was a good experience – it had the feel of central London upmarket restaurant but reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend going on a sunny or summer day. Their rooftop terrace is amazing in the sunshine and a great place to grab a bite to eat with friends or maybe a romantic sunset dinner as well. The food presentation was off the charts and the entire vibe of the restaurant was nice and welcoming. I really recommend Londoners to venture out of their comfort zone and try out this awesome spot! As one of the nicest restaurants, don’t be a London snob and be put off by the location.
I also vlogged my food weekend in London. Here is my video of my experience of eating at Tarshish:
