This past week I was invited to Taste of London 2016 to cover some press for this cool London Food Festival. It was a unique experience and I loved meeting and speaking with a lot of the amazing food vendors that had stalls at the event held at the Tobacco dock. I had high expectations going into this event and was really looking forward to trying the amazing food and learning new amazing cookery skills.
London’s blossoming restaurant scene seems to be getting more exciting by the minute! If you want to escape the cold of the upcoming winter and enjoy some warming food and drink then you should definitely check out Taste of London (Winter Edition) at the Tobacco Dock. This festival is a foodie wonderland, which offers a huge range of tasty samples. The festival is set at the Tobacco docks which have a Victorian atmosphere. It was my first time to the Tobacco Docks and I really enjoyed the open and loft-like feeling.
At the festival, you get a chance to sample signature dishes and winters specials from 21 of London’s best restaurants. I personally loved Blondie’s Kitchen, Pirate’s Grog Rum, Pan-n-Ice, and Mole Taco Bar. Not only did I get to try awesome food from these vendors but I got to connect with them and understand their passion behind their food and products.
I went on opening night, which was Thursday, November 17th. The atmosphere was buzzing and filled with foodies grabbing a drink and bite to eat after a hard day at work. The festival is set up so that you can browse the food stalls, enjoy demonstrations, cooking masterclasses, and talks. I personally only browsed the food and drinks stalls, but wish I could have attended a masterclass. I was also surprised to see equally, if not more, drink vendors as food vendors. I was expecting more food, but there was everything from cheese, to tacos, to wine, to rum!
The festival has come to an end for this year, but make sure to keep an eye on their website to check out their upcoming events in 2017! I hope this blog post has encouraged you to go out in London and check out all the amazing food this city has to offer.
